The pond lies in the middle part of Golden Whip Stream. Formerly, it is called Paper Grass Pond for in Qing dynasty the inhabitants washed their paper-making clays here. The big red pond is about 2.5m in depth. The upriver rapids sound like the melody of strings. Strands of white waters rush down, which sounds just like the music of pearls down on a jade. The water is still and ease, which is so clear that the pond bottom, the fishes and shrimps are easily seen by naked eyes. Lichens are interspersed on the banks, as well as the green downy glass, which takes on kind of purple color on the stones and grass because of the blending of red of green. So it has changed its name into“Purple Grass Pond”.
